I had never been to Portage Park{{1}} before today. The weather has been spring like and warm, the sun was playing hide and seek with the clouds, it was a good day to go for a walk and take photos.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"g2image_centered\" src=\"http:\/\/alanklughammer.com\/portfolio\/d\/6807-3\/20120201-dscf9862.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=TMP_SESSION_ID_DI_NOISSES_PMT\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"117\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sun dappling a birch tree. With the sun popping out from behind clouds, I had to really watch the light as well as adjust exposure.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There is also a small beach that\u00a0 warrants much more exploring, but I did play a bit with pebbles in a stream.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"g2image_centered\" src=\"http:\/\/alanklughammer.com\/portfolio\/d\/6803-3\/20120201-dscf9843.jpg?g2_GALLERYSID=TMP_SESSION_ID_DI_NOISSES_PMT\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"101\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">pebbles and shells in a stream as it flows into the ocean. I had to wait for the sun to poke out and add some sparkle.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>[[1]]I wanted to link to<a title=\"Portage Park\" href=\"httphttp:\/\/g.co\/maps\/k858f\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> google maps<\/a>, but the park is not named, and doesn&#8217;t show the paths through the park. Originally I used<a href=\"http:\/\/www.openstreetmap.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> openstreetmap.org<\/a> to find out about it, but the site doesn&#8217;t seem to allow linking to specific maps&#8230;[[1]]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I just came back from another of southern Vancouver Island&#8217;s parks.
