One of my rituals is coffee. I have a manual espresso machine, along with a manual grinder. Every morning I make a cappuccino and / or an expresso. I enjoy the manual ritual of putting the kettle on, preheating the brew chamber, weighing out the right amount of high quality beans, hand grinding them, and pulling a shot

For some people, that would be way too much work. Much easier to plug in a drip machine, or even worse, insert a pod into an automatic machine. For me is is not only better coffee (usually) but the act of making the coffee, feeling the burrs cut into the beans, feeling the pressure of pushing water through the grounds, gives a very visceral satisfaction.

I also think making my own espresso will often be better than what I can get at a coffee shop. Even the small local shops where I get my beans.
