I have been playing around with a new online photo gallery software (Koken).
One of the things I like about this software is that it allows me to upload photos directly from Lightroom.
The nice thing about publishing directly from Lightroom is that I can make a smart collection in the Koken publish plugin to automatically publish any photos I rate at 4 out of 5 stars or better. This way I can have continual updates as I make new images…
For those of you using Lightroom, smart collections are a great way to keep an up to date collection you don’t have to worry about.
For my Koken album I have a number of criteria:
- Rating is greater than or equal to 4 stars
- Folder doesn’t contain Jobs (I put all my commercial work in a subfolder called Jobs. I don’t want any non personal work showing up online)
- Keywords doesn’t contain Family (Again, I don’t want photos of my kids showing up)
I also have settings on the Koken publish plugin to resize the images and add a watermark.
So far it seems to work. I’ll get back to you in a couple of months to see what problems crop up…
