I found a geared tripod head on Facebook Marketplace. It was a pretty good deal so I picked it up to use for commercial use as well as macro photography. To test it out, I thought I would walk around Swan Lake Park and take some close up images.

Short answer is: I probably bought the wrong head. I did save about $100, and the head will be useful for other types of photography, but it is a bit limited for landscape or outdoor macro.

Maybe in the future I will look at upgrading to a better geared head. but in the mean time, I will probably stick with my ball head for walkabout images.
